Why we built it

Every app helps you catch fish. Then you're on your own.

Forecast apps find the bite. Regulation apps tell you what you can keep. But the moment that actually matters — standing at the cleaning table with a fish you don't quite recognize, wondering can I even eat this? — has always belonged to a frantic one-handed search and a decade-old forum thread.

Catch 'N Bake exists for exactly that moment.

Snap

Take a photo of your catch, or pull one from your camera roll. That's the whole input.

Know

Get the species and scientific name, how confident the ID is, habitat notes, and a regulations summary — with direct links to your state's official rules.

Cook

Get a hand-picked spread of recipes written for that exact fish, from a quick weeknight pan to a proper fish fry with sides.

02

Fish identification

Know what's on the end of your line.

One photo. AI vision reads the fish and gives you a straight answer — and when it isn't sure, it tells you that too.

  • Species + scientific name from a single photo, with habitat notes.
  • Honest confidence. A low-confidence ID never bluffs — you get the likely alternatives and pick, instead of trusting a guess.
  • Regulations, summarized. Every ID includes a regulations overview and the app links out to the official rules for all 50 states.

10 free IDs every month · unlimited with Premium. AI identification can be wrong — always confirm species and local rules before you keep a fish.

Recipes for your actual fish

From this exact fish to dinner.

Not “fish recipes.” Recipes for the fish in your cooler, written when you ask for them.

  • Four to six recipes per catch — each with difficulty, a full ingredient list, and step-by-step instructions.
  • Region-aware. Recipes lean into your local tradition across 11 American culinary regions — a redfish in Louisiana doesn't cook like a redfish in the Carolinas.
  • The classic, always. Every spread includes a proper crispy fried fish with sides to match.
04

Catch journal

Your season, written down.

Every catch becomes a record you'll actually look back on — and the patterns start to show.

  • One tap from ID to logbook — the photo and species carry straight over.
  • The details that matter: spot, weather, temperature, bait, lure, weight, length, and your notes.
  • Works offline. No signal at the flats? Entries queue and sync when you're back.
  • Stats, a catch map, and a leaderboard to see your season take shape.

The dock, minus the drive.

Show off the catch and the plate. Trade what worked with people who fish your water.

  • Share catches, cook photos, and recipes — with comments, likes, and saves.
  • Groups for your species, your technique, your stretch of coast.
  • Family-friendly by design. Every photo is AI-moderated before it posts, and report & block tools are one tap away.
